The seventh-day Sabbath of worship and rest is the sign between Almighty Yahweh Elohim and His People

The Sign Between Yahweh and His People is the 7th-Day Sabbath

Hello everyone. Welcome back to Spiritual Podcast, your podcast for authentic Bible truth teachings. I’m Elder Dan, your host. Grab your coffee, get comfortable, and let’s dive into something that’s been on my heart lately—something that I believe could transform the way you understand your relationship with Yahweh, the Almighty Father and Elohim in heaven.

We’re talking about the weekly Sabbath today. But not just any surface-level discussion. We’re going deep into what the Sabbath really is, when it actually occurs, and why it matters more than most of us have been taught.

The Sign That Sets Us Apart

Let me start with something powerful that Yahweh said to His people through the prophet Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 20:12, Yahweh declares:

“Moreover, I also gave them My Sabbaths, to be a sign between them and Me, that they might know that I am Yahweh who sanctifies them.”

Did you catch that? The Sabbath isn’t just another religious obligation. It’s a sign—a sacred marker—between Yahweh Almighty and His people. It’s how we know Him, and it’s how the world can see that we belong to Him.

But here’s the question that stops most people in their tracks: Which day is the actual Sabbath?

Let’s Go Back to the Beginning

If we want to know the truth about the Sabbath, we need to go back to Creation itself. Genesis 2:2-3 tells us:

“And on the seventh day Elohim ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done. Then Elohim blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which Elohim had created and made.”

Notice what happened here. Yahweh didn’t just rest on the seventh day—He blessed it and sanctified it. He set it apart as holy! This wasn’t a suggestion. This was Elohim Himself establishing a pattern for all of humanity to follow.

Now, which day is the seventh day of the week? It is Saturday! Always has been, folks. Check any calendar, any culture, any language around the world, and even in the encyclopedias. The authentic weekly Sabbath is Saturday, which is yes, the Seventh-day!

The Fourth Commandment: Written in Stone

When Yahweh gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mount Sinai, He did not just write them on a piece of paper that could easily fade or be reinterpreted. Yes, Yahweh carved them into stone with His own finger. And the fourth commandment? It’s all about the Sabbath!

Exodus 20:8-11 says:

“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of Yahweh your Elohim. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore, Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.”

Yahweh says “Remember” the Sabbath day. That word implies we might forget. And sadly, many have. Elohim’s command is crystal clear: the seventh day—Saturday—is the Sabbath of Yahweh.

When Does the Sabbath Actually Begin?

Here’s where it gets even more specific. The Sabbath runs from Friday evening at sunset to Saturday evening at sunset. How do we know this?

In the creation account, Genesis 1:5 establishes the biblical day: “So the evening and the morning were the first day.” Evening comes first, then morning. Yes, the biblical day begins at sunset, not at midnight! Surprised?

Leviticus 23:32 confirms this pattern when discussing the Day of Atonement: “From evening to evening, you shall celebrate your sabbath.”

So, the Sabbath begins when the sun sets on Friday evening and ends when the sun sets on Saturday evening. This is the time Yahweh has sanctified as holy!

Savior Yahshua (the Messiah) and the Sabbath

Some people say, “Well, that was the Old Testament. Yahshua the Messiah changed all that.” But did He really? Of course not!

I want you to pay a very close attention to what Yahshua Himself said in Matthew 5:17-18:

“Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.”

Now, I want you to look outside your window. Is heaven still there? Is earth still here? If you can see the heaven up and the Earth below, then the law—including the Sabbath commandment—is still in full effect!

Luke 4:16 shows us Yahshua’s custom: “So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read.”

Yes, Messiah Yahshua Himself kept the Sabbath! The disciples kept the Sabbath even after His resurrection! (Acts 13:14, Acts 17:2, Acts 18:4). The Sabbath was not something they abandoned—it was woven into the fabric of their faith.

The Sabbath: A Perpetual Covenant

In Exodus 31:16-17, Yahweh makes something abundantly clear:

He said, “Therefore, the children of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, to observe the Sabbath throughout their generations as a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between Me and the children of Israel forever; for in six days Yahweh made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day He rested and was refreshed.”

That word “perpetual” means ongoing, continuous, without end. The Sabbath is described as a sign “forever.” Not until Yahshua comes. Not until what happened to Savior Yahshua at the stake. Yes, the Sabbath is forever!

Why Does This Matter?

You might be thinking, “Elder Dan, does Yahweh really care which day we worship? Isn’t it about the heart?”

Yes, it absolutely is about the heart! But here’s the thing: when your heart truly loves Yahweh, you want to obey Him. You want to honor what He has specifically asked of you.

Messiah Yahshua said in John 14:15, “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

And yes, the Sabbath isn’t just a day of worship and rest. It’s a weekly reminder that:

  • Yahweh is our Creator.
  • We trust Him to provide for us (even when we stop working for a full day)
  • We are His people, marked by His sign.
  • We live by His Word (the Bible), not the world’s!

When we observe the true Sabbath—from Friday sunset to Saturday sunset—we’re declaring to heaven and earth: “I belong to the Elohim of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I follow His ways, not human tradition!”

A Sacred Invitation

Friends, I’m not here to condemn anyone. I’m here to invite you into something deeper. The Sabbath is a gift—a weekly appointment with the Creator of the universe. It’s a day when we can rest from our striving, cease from our endless doing, and simply be with Yahweh, our Elohim.

In a world that never stops, that’s constantly demanding more from us, the Sabbath is Yahweh’s way of saying, “Come together with Me. Let Me restore your soul.”

Isaiah 58:13-14 promises:

“If you turn away your foot from the Sabbath, from doing your pleasure on My holy day, and call the Sabbath a delight, the holy day of Yahweh honorable, and shall honor Him, not doing your own ways, nor finding your own pleasure, nor speaking your own words, then you shall delight yourself in Yahweh; and I will cause you to ride on the high hills of the earth, and feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father. The mouth of Yahweh has spoken.”

Yes, friends. There’s blessing in obedience. There’s true spiritual intimacy in following Yahweh’s instructions. The Sabbath—the true Sabbath—is where heaven touches earth, where we remember who we are and whose we are.

Your Next Step

Now, here’s my challenge to you: Don’t just take my word for it. Search the Bible for yourself. Ask Yahweh Almighty to show you the truth about His genuine Sabbath. And if His Holy Spirit opens your eyes and confirms what we’ve talked about today, I encourage you to take that step of faith.

This Friday evening, as the sun begins to set, welcome the Sabbath. Turn off your work, silence your phone, and enter into Yahweh’s rest. Experience what it means to keep the true Sabbath day that He blessed and sanctified from the very beginning of time.

So yes, the authentic Sabbath, which is the Seventh-day Sabbath is Yahweh’s sign—His seal upon His people! Will you receive it?

Let’s pray: Father Yahweh, we thank You for the gift of the Sabbath. Thank You that You’ve given us a sign of our connection with You, a weekly reminder of Your eternal love and Your everlasting covenant. Give us the courage to follow Your Word, even when it goes against popular pagan traditions. Help us to honor the day You made holy. In Yahshua’s name we pray these things to you, Amen.
