The Hidden Darkness of Halloween that many are not aware of is Revealed very clearly in the Bible

Hello everyone. I’m Elder Dan, your host. Welcome back to another episode of Spiritual Podcast, your podcast for authentic Bible truths. Grab your coffee, friends. We need to talk about something that’s been weighing on my heart.

You know, it’s that time of year again. The stores are packed with costumes, the neighborhoods are getting decorated, and I’ve already seen three different “spooky season” memes in my feed this morning. And I know—I know—some of you are thinking, “Oh no, here comes the Halloween sermon.”

But hear me out. This isn’t about being the fun police. This is about something far more serious that I think most believers genuinely don’t understand. And I’m not coming at this from a place of judgment. I’m coming at this as your Elder, as someone who cares deeply about your spiritual life and your family’s spiritual protection.

Let’s Talk About Where This All Started

So here’s what most people don’t know: Halloween isn’t just some innocent fall festival that evolved over time. Its roots go deep into paganism—specifically, a Celtic festival called Samhain. Now, the Celts believed that on October 31st, the boundary between the living and the dead became thin. They thought spirits—and not the good kind—could cross over into our world.

They would light bonfires, wear costumes made from animal skins, and make sacrifices to appease these spirits and their dark gods. This wasn’t a harvest party, friends. This was occult worship. This was communicating with the dead, something Almighty Yahweh, the Father in heaven, explicitly forbids.

Listen to what Deuteronomy 18:10-12 says: “There shall not be found among you anyone who burns his son or his daughter as an offering, anyone who practices divination or tells fortunes or interprets omens, or a sorcerer or a charmer or a medium or a necromancer or one who inquires of the dead, for whoever does these things is an abomination to Yahweh.”

Yes, an abomination! That’s a strong language. You see, Yahweh doesn’t mess around when it comes to the occult.

But Elder Dan, it’s just about candy and costumes, right?

I get it. You’re thinking, “But we’re not doing those things. My kids are just dressing up as superheroes and getting candy from the neighbors.” And I hear you. The modern celebration looks different. But here’s what concerns me: we’ve taken something with deeply dark spiritual origins and dressed it up—pun intended—to look harmless!

The Apostle Paul warns us in 2 Corinthians 11:14, “And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.” The enemy is subtle. He doesn’t show up with a pitchfork and announce his presence. He makes darkness look fun, innocent, even cute.

Think about what we’re celebrating, even in its “harmless” modern form: death, fear, darkness, monsters, witchcraft, ghosts. We’re decorating our homes with symbols of evil. We’re teaching our kids to find entertainment in the very things Yahweh calls us to flee from.

The Gateway Nobody’s Talking About

Here’s where it gets really serious, and this is what keeps me up at night as a church elder. Halloween has become a gateway. It normalizes the occult for our children. When a five-year-old dresses up as a witch, she thinks it’s make-believe. But by the time she’s thirteen, she might be genuinely curious about Wicca, tarot cards, or “manifesting.” It all seemed so innocent back then, so why not explore it now?

Over many years, I’ve counseled many people, young and old, who got involved in occult practices, and you know what many of them tell me? It started as curiosity that was sparked by things that seemed innocent. Horror movies. Ouija boards at sleepovers. Fortune-telling apps. And yes, Halloween celebrations that made darkness look appealing.

Listen! 1 Thessalonians 5:22 tells us to “abstain from every form of evil.” Not just the obviously bad stuff—every form! Yes, even the stuff that looks harmless on the surface.

The Spiritual Reality We Can’t Ignore

Friends, the truth is, we are in a spiritual battle whether we acknowledge it or not. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us: “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the high places.”

When we participate in Halloween—even in seemingly innocent ways—we’re opening doors. We’re inviting spiritual darkness into our homes, into our families, into our lives. And the thing about doors is they swing both ways. You might think you’re just having fun, but you have no idea what you’re actually welcoming!

I’m not saying that everyone who trick-or-treats gets demon-possessed. But I am saying that we’re playing with fire and acting surprised when people get burned. We’re being desensitized to evil, and that’s exactly what the enemy wants.

So What Do We Do?

Look, I know this is countercultural. I know your kids might be the only ones in their class not celebrating Halloween. I know you might face pushback from family, from neighbors, from other Christians who think you’re overreacting.

But Romans 12:2 calls us to this: “Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of Yahweh, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Yes, we’re called to be different. We’re called to be set apart. Not because we’re better than anyone else, but because we serve a holy Elohim who calls us to holiness!

Instead of Halloween, celebrate Reformation Day. Have a harvest party focused on Yahweh’s provision. Use October 31st as an opportunity to talk with your kids about spiritual warfare and the protection we have in Yahshua, the Savior of humanity! Hand out gospel tracts along with candy if you feel called to minister to trick-or-treaters. But do it intentionally, with your eyes wide open to the spiritual realities at play.

A Final Word

I’m not here to condemn you if you’ve celebrated Halloween in the past. I’m here because I love you and I want you to understand what’s really at stake. Your soul, your family’s spiritual health, your children’s understanding of good and evil—these things do matter ultimately more than fitting in or having fun for one night.

Yahshua said in John 10:10, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” Don’t let the thief steal your family’s spiritual vitality because you thought it was just harmless fun.

I want abundant life for you. I want spiritual protection for your household. And sometimes, that means making the hard choice to stand apart from the culture, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Now, let’s pray together:

Yahweh, our Father and Elohim in heaven, open our eyes to the spiritual realities around us. Give us wisdom and courage to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy, even when they’re disguised as innocent entertainment. Protect our families, guard our children’s hearts and minds, and help us to be light in this dark world. In Yahshua’s name we pray, amen.

The Evil Side of Halloween Many Don’t Know About

Why You Should Reconsider Celebrating Halloween

Hello. Welcome back to the educational podcast. I’m Elder Dan, your host. Today, I’ll tackle head-on, explore, and share the truth about the evil side of Halloween many don’t know about and why the people should reconsider participating and celebrating this enigmatic holiday.

As the leaves turn and the air chills, the world gears up for one of the most widely celebrated holidays: Halloween. With its costumes, candies, and haunted houses, it’s easy to see why many view it as nothing more than a fun, spooky extravaganza. However, beneath this veneer of entertainment lies a history steeped in darkness, violence, and pagan rituals that might make one reconsider the festivities.

This episode is also available to listen FREE in other Pod Networks below.

The Origins of Fear and Darkness

Halloween, as we know it today, has its roots in the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. This was a time when it was believed that the boundaries between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. Druids, the priestly class in ancient Celtic society, conducted rituals where they believed they could communicate with spirits. These rituals often involved sacrifices, which in some interpretations included human sacrifices.

Themes of Evil and Horror

Demons and Witches: Halloween is rife with imagery of witches flying on broomsticks, casting spells, and brewing potions. Historically, witches were not the harmless, whimsical characters of today’s tales. The witch hunts of the Middle Ages and later periods were fueled by fear and resulted in the brutal execution of thousands, often based on superstition and misogyny.

Blood and Violence: The association with blood, especially in vampire lore, and violence, seen in zombie outbreaks or slasher films, glorifies or trivializes acts of brutality. These themes, while entertaining to some, normalize horror and desensitize us to real violence.

Human Sacrifices: While modern Halloween doesn’t practice human sacrifices, the historical context suggests that ancient Samhain festivals might have. This connection, even if distant, taints the holiday with a macabre history that many overlook in the quest for fun.

Death and the Afterlife: The omnipresent theme of death in Halloween celebrations, from skeletons to visits to “haunted” places, might seem like mere entertainment. However, it subtly mocks and trivializes the sanctity of life and the mystery of what lies beyond, which for many cultures and religions, is treated with reverence and solemnity.

The Disheartening Reality

In a world where faith often provides a moral compass, it’s very disheartening to observe that many religious leaders, including priests and pastors, are actively encouraging their congregations to celebrate Halloween. This tradition, rooted in ancient pagan customs and often associated with darkness and superstition, now finds support in places traditionally focused on light and hope.

Yes, very sadly, instead of fostering discernment and a deeper understanding of the spiritual implications of such celebrations, many churches are promoting Halloween festivities, sometimes even hosting events that blur the lines between sacred and secular. This phenomenon highlights a troubling trend in which the allure of cultural participation overshadows the call to uphold spiritual integrity, leaving many believers grappling with conflicting messages about faith, morality, and the essence of their spiritual journeys.

In the quest for community and inclusivity, the poignant question arises: at what cost do they embrace the shadows?

Encouraging Reflection and Research

It’s crucial to encourage readers to delve into the origins of Halloween. Yes, the Holy Scripture condemns the celebration of Halloween. However, if you don’t believe in the Bible, you can read encyclopedias, historical texts, and scholarly articles that offer insights into how these satanic traditions evolved. While some might argue that its celebration is disconnected from its origins, the symbols and themes many people embrace each October 31st are direct descendants of these ancient, often grim practices.

A Call for Awareness

Halloween, with its deep-seated themes of evil, darkness, and death, presents a paradox. While it’s marketed as fun and entertainment, its roots and themes are anything but light-hearted. Celebrating Halloween might seem harmless, but it’s worth considering what you’re actually endorsing through your participation. Perhaps, instead of outright celebration, this time can be used for reflection, education, or engaging in more life-affirming activities that don’t draw from such dark wells of human history.

This isn’t about being a spoilsport or advocating for puritanical living but about being informed and conscious consumers of culture. So, this Halloween, maybe take a moment to read up on its history, discuss its implications, or choose not to celebrate it at all so you won’t inadvertently glorify or trivialize the darker aspects of human history and belief that are associated with this holiday. After all, awareness is the first step towards making more enlightened choices.

Indeed, Halloween-related customs are mentioned in the Bible along with biblical cautions against witchcraft, sorcery, and the occult. When discussing why the Bible is against Halloween, the following verses may be brought up: Deuteronomy 18:9–12: This chapter cautions against occult-related activities. In Leviticus 19:31, it is forbidden to look for spiritists or mediums. Galatians 5:19–21 discusses the deeds of the flesh in general, including some witchcraft-related activities.
