Why Antisemitism Is a Spiritual Issue

Hello and welcome back to Spiritual Podcast, your podcast for authentic Bible teachings. I’m Elder Dan, your host. I’m so glad you’ve tuned in or clicked open this post today. Before we dive in, take a breath. It’s noisy out there in the world, isn’t it? The news cycle is spinning, social media is shouting, and sometimes it feels like we’re losing our ability to hear the “still, small voice” of Almighty Yahweh amidst the clamor.

But today, I need us to lean in. I need to talk to you about something heavy, something that’s been grieving my spirit, and frankly, something we as the Church cannot afford to ignore.

I want to talk about the growing wave of antisemitism we are seeing on the global stage.

Now, I know. As soon as I say the word “Israel,” some of you tense up. It’s political, right? It’s complicated. And yes, geopolitics are incredibly complex. But the hatred of a specific people group? That is spiritual. And the silence of the Church in the face of it? That is dangerous.

I was scrolling through my feed the other day, looking at images from protests in major capitals around the world. And underneath the banners of political critique, I saw something much older and much darker. I saw the same ancient hatred that has chased the Jewish people through history. We see “anti-Israel” rhetoric quickly morphing into “anti-Jewish” hatred—harassment on college campuses, vandalism of synagogues, and a global standard of judgment applied to the Jewish state that is applied to no other nation on earth. Have you ever observed how many people discriminate against Jews? Although some anti-Israel countries and individuals out there may refuse to acknowledge it, it is an extremely  sobering fact that cannot be disputed.

Friends, we have to call this for what it truly is. It is not just activism; it is a spirit of antisemitism. And as followers of Yahshua, we need to check our hearts and our theology.

The Family Tree

Let’s go back to the beginning. Literally, Genesis.

In Genesis 12:3, Yahweh makes a covenant with Abraham. He says: “I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

This wasn’t a temporary suggestion. It was a foundational promise. Yahweh Almighty chose a specific family through whom He would reveal Himself to the world. And from that family came the prophets, the Holy Scripture, and ultimately, our Messiah, Yahshua.

The Apostle Paul breaks this down beautifully—and firmly—in Romans 11.

He paints a picture of an olive tree. He tells us that the Jewish people are the natural branches and the root that supports the tree. And us? The Gentile believers? We are the “wild olive shoots.”

Here is the kicker, folks. Paul writes this in Romans 11:17-18:

“But if some of the branches were broken off, and you, although a wild olive shoot, were grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing root of the olive tree, do not be arrogant toward the branches. If you are, remember it is not you who support the root, but the root that supports you.”

Read that again. The root supports you!

We have to stop acting like we replaced the Jewish people. We didn’t replace them; we were invited in to sit at their table. We were grafted into their promise. You cannot embrace the fruit of the so-called “Christianity” while trying to chop down the root of Judaism. It just doesn’t work!

When we see antisemitism rising, we aren’t just watching an attack on a neighbor; we are watching an attack on the family of our Savior. Remember, Yahshua wasn’t just “sort of” Jewish. Yes, He lived a Jewish life, He observed the feasts, He read the Torah, and He is coming back as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah.

Silence is Not an Option

So, what do we do? Because I know it’s heavy. I know you might feel helpless scrolling through the headlines.

First, humanity must repent of its arrogance. We all humble ourselves and recognize our gratitude for the spiritual heritage we’ve been gifted.

Second, we must speak up. History has taught us a brutal lesson about what happens when the Church stays silent in the face of Jewish hatred. Silence in the face of evil is itself evil: and yes, Yahweh will not hold us guiltless!

If you hear a joke that degrades Jewish people? Don’t laugh. Call it out. If you see a neighbor or a coworker making sweeping generalizations against the Jews? Challenge it with grace and truth. If you have Jewish friends or neighbors, check on them. Tell them you see them, you love them, and you stand with them.

A Call to Prayer

It is worth remembering that Psalm 122:6 commands us to “Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.”

We pray for protection against violence. We pray for hearts to be softened. We pray that the Church would wake up and be a shield, a refuge, and a voice of love in a world that is obsessed with hate.

Now, let us all pray together:

“Father, we come to You today with heavy but hopeful hearts. We take Your Word seriously when You ask us to pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Almighty Yahweh, we ask for a covering of protection over Your people. Where there is hatred, bring Your love. Where there is violence, bring Your supernatural peace. We pray for safety within their walls and security within their citadels.

Our Father in heaven Yahweh, wake up Your Church. For the sake of our brothers and friends, let us say, ‘Peace be within you.’ Remove any root of pride or prejudice from our own hearts, and help us to be a refuge and a light in these dark times.

We ask this in the name of the Prince of Peace, Yahshua. Amen.”

Folks, the Divine called us to be peacemakers, not just peacekeepers. It’s time to get off the sidelines. Let us love our Jewish neighbors with the same powerful love that Yahshua, our Jewish Messiah, has for us.

Thanks to all our listeners around the world for joining us in today’s podcast. I know this episode was not a “light and fluffy” topic, but real family talks about real things.

To our dear brothers and sisters in Yahshua out there, we love you all. We’ll see you next time. I’m Elder Dan signing off from the Holy Land.

Brethren, before I go, let me pray this prayer for you: May Yahweh bless you and keep you; may Yahweh make His face shine upon you and be gracious to you; may Yahweh lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. I humbly pray all these things to Yahweh through Yahshua the Messiah, our Master and coming King, amen. Kindly keep praying for the shalom of Israel. Take care. Halleluyah!
