Does Yahweh Use Fire to Convey His Message to Humans?

Hello, everyone. Happy Saturday. Shabbat, shalom! Welcome back to Spiritual Podcast, your podcast for authentic Bible teachings. I’m Elder Joe, your host. I’m so glad you’re here.

As I write this blogcast, some parts of the world are truly on fire. Today, parts of North America, including parts of Canada and the United States of America, are on fire. Have you ever wondered why it is occurring? Is Yahweh in heaven using fire to communicate with humanity?

If you’ve spent any time reading the Psalms, you know they aren’t just dry, dusty prayers. They are raw, vivid, and full of life—literally. Today, I want to talk about one of the most intense verses in the entire Bible: Psalm 148:8.

The Psalmist writes: “Fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word.”

Stop and think about that seriously. We usually talk about Almighty Yahweh’s love or His peace, but here, the writer is praising Him for things that can be—let’s be honest—terrifying. Fire, hail, storms. These aren’t just random weather patterns. The verse says they are fulfilling His word.

The Purpose of the Fire

I get asked a lot: “Elder Joe, if Yahweh is good, why is there ‘fire’ in the world?”

When we look at this verse, we see that creation isn’t just a background setting for our lives. It’s an active participant in Yahweh’s story. In the ancient world, fire was a tool of purification. It refined gold, it cleared the brush so new growth could emerge, and it provided warmth in the dead of winter.

Yahweh Almighty uses the “fire” in our lives—those moments of intense pressure, trial, or heat—for the exact same reasons.

Why Does Yahweh Use It?

You might be in a season that feels like a forest fire right now. Maybe your career feels like it’s burning down, or your relationships are feeling the heat. It’s easy to look at that and feel abandoned. But remember the Psalmist’s perspective: The fire is fulfilling a purpose.

Our Father in heaven Yahweh isn’t using the fire to destroy you. He’s using it to:

  • Refine your character: Just like gold, the heat strips away what isn’t essential.
  • Prepare the soil: Sometimes, a fire is exactly what’s needed to clear away the old, dead habits so something new and beautiful can finally grow.
  • Refocus your heart: When the storm hits, we stop looking at our own strength and start looking at the One who commands the wind.

The Bottom Line

Yahweh is the author of creation, from the gentle snow to the roaring flame. His purpose for humanity isn’t just for us to survive the storm; it’s for us to be transformed by it.

So, if you’re walking through a fire today, don’t lose heart. You are not just a victim of the weather; you are a child of the Creator who uses everything—even the fire—to shape you into something more like Him.
