Does Your Life Have a Purpose?

Welcome back, everyone, to Spiritual Podcast, your podcast for authentic Bible teachings that we share with all for 100% free. I’m Elder Joe, your host. It is Saturday. Happy Sabbath! Pull up a chair, grab your coffee, and let’s get into the deep spiritual stuff today.

Lately, I’ve been hearing a recurring theme in my conversations with you all. Whether it’s over a quick lunch or during a late-night phone call, the question keeps bubbling up: “Does my life actually have a purpose, or am I just drifting?”

We live in a world that tells us purpose is something we create. We’re told to “find our passion,” “build a legacy,” or “define our own truth.” And look, there’s nothing wrong with having goals. But if your purpose is something you have to invent, what happens on the days you don’t feel passionate? What happens when your “legacy” feels like it’s crumbling?

If our purpose is self-made, it’s fragile. But what if it wasn’t meant for us to invent? What if it was meant for us to discover?

You Weren’t an Accident

Think about the sheer complexity of who you are. The way you think, the specific way you love, even the way you process the world. The writer of Psalm 139 didn’t mince words about this. He wrote, “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Psalm 139:13-14).

You aren’t a cosmic accident. You aren’t a byproduct of biology and chance. You were knit together with intention. If a master craftsman builds a chair, that chair has a purpose—to be sat upon. If a poet writes a verse, that verse has a purpose—to convey beauty or truth. If the Creator of the universe knit you together, you don’t have to guess if you have a purpose. Your very existence is proof of it.

The Big Picture: It’s Not Just About You

Here is where the podcast gets a little counter-cultural. We often think our purpose is about our career, our bank account, or our status. But scripture points us in a much more extreme direction.

In Ephesians 2:10, Paul tells us: “For we are Yahweh’s handiwork, created in Messiah Yahshua to do good works, which Elohim prepared in advance for us to do.”

Did you catch that? The “good works” weren’t just a suggestion; they were prepared in advance. Your purpose is tied to something bigger than your own comfort. It’s tied to the way you love your neighbor, the way you show grace to the person who cut you off in traffic, and the way you serve someone who can offer you absolutely nothing in return.

Living On Purpose Today

So, how do we live this out? If you’re feeling like a leaf in the wind today, I want to challenge you with three things:

1. Stop looking for a “destiny” and start looking for a “neighbor.” Your purpose usually isn’t found on a mountaintop; it’s found in the person standing right in front of you who needs a listening ear or a helping hand.

    2. Trade “self-definition” for “divine identity.” You are not what you do. You are not your mistakes. You are a child of Yahweh, and that identity carries a mission.

    3. Trust the architect. If you feel like your life is a mess right now, remember that even a messy draft can become a masterpiece in the hands of a skilled artist. You are still being shaped.

Yes, you are here for a reason. You are loved beyond measure. And today, you have the opportunity to step into the purpose that was waiting for you before you even took your first breath.

Let us keep praying for the shalom of Israel. Take care. Halleluyah!

I appreciate you spending time with me today. Take a moment starting this week and always to look for those “good works” prepared for you. You might be surprised at what you find.

Brothers and sisters in Yahshua the Messiah, what is one small way you feel called to serve or love someone in your circle this week? 🙂
